As we celebrate Black History Month 2024, we want to do more than simply share information about this year’s theme, resources, and focus. We want to take this as an opportunity to recognize and thank a member of the Black community who exudes excellence: Khris Middleton.
You may know him as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks since 2013, but we know him as a quietly generous man who engages with children, youth, and families in our community in so many admirable ways.
For the past five years, Khris has hosted a Twelve Days of Khrismas campaign. Each year, he and his team work with local schools, parents, children, and organizations to give back and provide moments of joy and connection. We at the Coalition are honored to have been a part of Khris’s event since year one. So many foster, kinship, and adoptive families in our community have had the chance to enjoy a movie–complete with snacks, drinks, and goodies to take home for parents, caregivers, and kids–together thanks to the generosity of Khris and his family foundation. This past holiday season, a group of young children and their parents or caregivers joined in art activities with Khris at the Milwaukee Art Museum.
Khris’s efforts with the Coalition are just one of the ways he is giving back to the Milwaukee community. He also hosts clinics with teens and young adults about healthy eating choices, treats single moms to a day of pampering and restoration, outfits entire schools of children with warm winter coats, and so much more.
As February begins and as we share more resources and information about Black History on our social channels, we invite you to join us in recognizing, acknowledging, and celebrating exceptional members of the Black community.
