Our mission is to inspire, inform, and support individuals and families caring for children touched by foster care and adoption.
We are committed to a vision of life-long permanence for all children and youth by engaging and encouraging resilient individuals and families to create and maintain a healthy and stable environment in which children and you can thrive and grow.
We BELIEVE that every child deserves permanence, safety, and stability. We believe that birth families of children in the child welfare system, relative caregivers, foster, and adoptive families deserve the support, nurturing, and encouragement that they need to be strong healthy families.
We EXIST to provide exemplary services before, during, and after placement to birth parents, children waiting for adoptive homes, or those aging out of foster care, foster and adoptive families, their children and the professionals who serve them. Those services include recruitment, placement support, education, training, and advocacy from over a quarter century of tradition and strong achievements.
We SUPPORT children, youth, and families with programs to enhance their capacity to succeed by monitoring, enhancing, and creating services in response to emerging needs.
We RESPOND to our constituents with timely, factual, objective information that enables them to make informed decisions.
We are COMMITTED to the delivery of the highest quality services, using a collaborative team approach that respects the dignity of each individual, family, and organization.
We ADVOCATE to represent children, youth, and family voices in legislative, rule-making, policy-making, and political arenas and to ensure adequate funding for the necessary resources.
We STRIVE to bring those voices to discussions throughout Wisconsin and the country on effective and accessible programs and services.
We SUCCEED when foster and adoptive families have access to the information and resources they need to provide a healthy and stable environment. Our goal is continuous quality and growth of capacity to support children and families.
The Coalition for Children, Youth & Families supports people who are changing kids’ lives through foster care and adoption by connecting them with the resources that provide information, training and education, and support they need to succeed and excel in their unique, challenging, and rewarding role.
The Coalition opened our doors in 1984 to bring visibility to children who remained in foster care and needed a permanent adoptive family. Families reached out to us for parenting assistance and support to help their children. Pregnant women contemplating adoption plans called for assistance in locating an adoption agency to counsel them. Over the years, our organization has expanded to serve foster families, to provide technical assistance to agencies, and to build statewide recruitment campaigns.
The Coalition is the single source for neutral, objective, and current information about every aspect of foster care and adoption. Prospective families, foster and adoptive families, and the professionals who work with them turn to us for answers.
We are the connectors, the bridge-makers that bring together families, agencies, government, and providers to work together to invest in our children’s tomorrows.
