Volunteer Photography Program

The Volunteer Photography Program provides several opportunities for photographers to donate their time and talents for the Coalition.

  1. Photo listing services for waiting children. For children and youth being photo listed, we post a portrait and description on our website. The images of the children are used for purposes of recruiting permanent homes for them.

All images from these sessions are donated directly to the Coalition for our use with a copyright tag line of the donating photographer and/or studio name.

(Please note: In the interest of maintaining and respecting the confidentiality and safety of the child/children/youth being photo listed, we ask that our volunteer photographers refrain from utilizing any and all images from a donated session in portfolios, blogs, social media, or website posts.)
  2. Fostering Achievement. The statistics are grim for youth in foster care when it comes to high school graduation. And, even for those youth who do graduate, they often don’t have the resources to have senior portraits taken. This program pairs volunteer photographers with high school seniors in foster care who would otherwise be unable to have senior portraits taken.

When completing a Fostering Achievement photo session, we have found that all photographers donate differently. Some of our photographers donate the session and all of the digital files to the Coalition. In turn, we then upload the images to a professional fulfillment website and make the private album available to these seniors and their families for purchase. Most of our photographers prefer to donate the session and either a print package or a disc of images directly to the youth or his or her caregiver or case worker. We encourage you to discuss the specifics of what you are willing and ready to donate with the youth or the youth’s guardian/parent before the session takes place in order to reduce any confusion.

The Coalition does not receive any of the images from these sessions for publication or use.

(Please note: In the interest of maintaining and respecting the confidentiality and safety of the child/children/youth being photographed, we ask that our volunteer photographers refrain from utilizing any and all images from a donated session in portfolios, blogs, social media, or website posts.)
  3. Special events. We have a number of events, conferences, and occasions throughout the year that we like to have photographed. For example, our annual Adoption Celebration Gala in November, family conferences, our annual golf outing, and Family Portrait Days. We use the photos on our websites and in our publications.

All images from these sessions are donated directly to the Coalition for our use with a copyright tag line of the donating photographer and/or studio name.

(Please note: In many cases, images taken at these types of events are clear for use by the donating photographer/studio in portfolios, blogs, social media, or website posts. A representative from the Coalition for Children, Youth & Families will confirm with the photographer if photos taken for an event can be shared.)

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer photographer for the Coalition, please contact us for a sign-up form. We will also request that you sign a release allowing the Coalition for Children, Youth & Families to use your donated images in our publications, materials, websites, etc.

A big thank you to all of our volunteer photographers across Wisconsin!
