November is National Adoption Month, a time to come together and emphasize the importance of providing permanency for children and youth. Every child deserves a safe, loving, and supportive family that can offer steady encouragement through life’s milestones, like learning to ride a bike, preparing for a school dance, or earning a driver’s license.
This month is not only about raising awareness about adoption. It is also an opportunity for all of us to learn more about adoption and how we can make a difference. National Adoption Month invites us to raise awareness, increase education, and inspire action.
If you’re considering adoption, here are a few ways to begin:
- Contact the Coalition to learn about the different types of adoption.
- Visit our resource library and sign up for our newsletter. The more knowledge you have, the more empowered you’ll feel in your decision.
- Connect with adoptive and foster families to hear firsthand experiences.
If adoption isn’t a part of your journey, there are still many ways to support children and families during National Adoption Month and beyond:
- Learn about adoption and foster care to help dispel common myths and biases.
- Support foster and adoptive families in your community by checking in, preparing a meal, or helping with household tasks.
- Volunteer or mentor to be a safe, caring adult in a child’s life.
Whether you adopt, support, or simply learn, you help build a more resilient, compassionate, and informed community.
The Coalition supports and empowers adoptive families and the professionals who serve them all year long. If you have questions about adoption, please call 414-475-1246 or email info@coalitionforcyf.org to connect with a Resource Specialist.
